Sacred HeartContinues Its 59-Year Tradition of Spreading Holiday Joy

Sacred Heart Community Service (SHCS) is proud to announce its unwavering commitment to alleviating the symptoms of poverty as they prepare to begin their 59th year of distributing holiday food boxes and gifts to local families. This tradition will continue starting Monday, November 20th, with the launch of their Thanksgiving food box program, which aims to provide essential support to families in need during the holiday season.

Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Programs

This year's ambitious goal is to distribute 8,000 food boxes filled with nutritious and festive items during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Each holiday food box contains non-perishable goods, fresh vegetables, fruits, bread, and a choice of turkey, chicken, or ham. Each box weighs approximately 50 pounds, equating to $150 worth of groceries. Sacred Heart welcomes all community members with no zip code restrictions or appointment requirements for food pickup. In light of rising grocery costs, these holiday food boxes serve as a lifeline, allowing families to save money for other vital needs such as fuel and housing. Holiday food boxes will be available for pick up at Sacred Heart's 1381 S. First St. location. For the convenience of community members picking up their holiday food, please bring a suitable container to transport your food, ham, or turkey. Many people find carts, strollers, rolling luggage, or cloth bags.
