Safeway Renovation

Most of us take for granted the experience of shopping in a grocery store. Pristine aisles of fruits and vegetables. A plethora of choices. For families accessing food pantries the experience can be markedly different. As part of our commitment to providing services in a dignified manner Sacred Heart has been working to make member experience more like that of the typical grocery store. Thanks to our new partner Safeway we have been able to enhance our food pantry experience for our members. 

Sacred Heart was recipient of Safeway’s Nourishing Neighbors program which provided $100,000 and technical support and a team of Safeway employees/volunteers to complete the pantry transformation. Sacred Heart Senior Director of Development Elizabeth Matthews explains the impact of the partnership on the community. “Seeing the transformation of turning our pantry into a true shopping experience is so inspiring. Watching our community coming together to treat all our neighbors with compassion and respect is truly magical. This renovation provides our members with the dignity of choice and shopping for the needs of their family. We are truly grateful to Safeway for this amazing gift.”
