Deposit Assistance

Sacred Heart Community Service (SHCS) has available funding for emergency deposit assistance and first month’s rent. This assistance requires an emergency reason for the move and is for those who are low-income and live in Santa Clara County.

Currently these are the basic requirements to book an appointment:

1. Be a Santa Clara County Resident


2. Income: Be low income or below the Area Median Income (see table below). For example, a household of 1 person should be making less than $82,450 or less a year.


3. Lease or Letter of Intent for NEW location you are moving to: In order to book the appointment you must be able to provide a letter of intent or a new lease for the new location.


4. Zip code: If you are currently housed, you must be currently living in the following zip codes:

(95008, 95110, 95111, 95112 (S. of Santa Clara St.,) 95113, 95116 San Jose 95117 San Jose 95118 San Jose 95120 San Jose 95123 San Jose 95124 San Jose 95125 San Jose 95126 San Jose 95128 San Jose 95136)

If you do not see your zip code above, we may screen you but you may be referred back to the agency that has reserved funds to serve the zip code you live in. Click HERE to find the agency that serves your zip code.

5. Zip code for those currently unhoused: If you are currently unhoused or displaced, there is no zip code restriction as long as you have secured housing in Santa Clara County.


6. Section 8 Voucher and Passed Inspection (if applicable): If you are using a Section 8 Voucher then you will need to have a copy of the voucher and the new location must have passed the inspection before booking an appointment


7. Must be moving in 14 days from screening appointment or if already moved in: We request for a lease, letter of intent to rent, and/or a typed letter from your landlord stating why you were allowed to move in without paying a deposit, how much deposit is owed, and a date it needs to be paid by.


8. If currently unhoused or displaced, you may be asked to obtain a Homeless Verification letter stating that you have been unhoused in Santa Clara County.


Applicants will not be asked about their immigration status.
