Volunteer Spotlight: Alejandro Coronado
1. How long have you been with the Family Assistance department?
I've been volunteering with Family Assistance since early September of 2021.
2. What made you want to work with Family Assistance?
Being able to help my community in Santa Clara County with housing assistance has been something I've wanted to do because I know that many residents are dealing with housing hardships and uncertainty. As a public health major, I felt it was the right choice to be part of the Family Assistance department because inadequate housing is at the forefront of public health issues right now as we deal with COVID-19.
3. What have you learned from your time volunteering with us?
I've learned a lot as a volunteer with Sacred Heart in the housing department. I have progressed and built my confidence while communicating with all sorts of residents in Santa Clara County. I am more knowledgeable about the resources available for housing assistance and can effectively communicate with residents in desperate need of housing for themselves and their families.
