How do I become a Sacred Heart volunteer?
Simply fill out our online application. You will be directed to create an account and will then have access to our online volunteer calendar. If you are 17yrs or under, you will need to turn in a permission slip:

Do I have to attend a Volunteer Orientation before I begin to volunteer?
We are waiving our volunteer orientation for the month of December.
Do I have to schedule a shift before I volunteer?
Yes, we ask that everyone schedule ahead of time so that we can plan accordingly and be ready for you.
Do you have a dress code?
We ask everyone to wear closed-toed shoes for safety and to dress in layers. You may be working outside. Gloves will be provided, masks are optional.
Individual Volunteers
Can I select the area in which I volunteer?
After you fill out our application, you will have access to the Warehouse calendar. Depending on your age and availability, you can inquire about another program of interest based on program need. We currently have holiday food and toy shifts posted on the calendar.
How do I use my online account?
You can use your online account to schedule shifts in the Warehouse (Clothes Closet and Food Pantry), cancel shifts, view your upcoming shifts and check the number of hours you have completed.
I want to sign up my family. How can I get started?
Please register as a new volunteer if you are volunteering for the first time. Each family member should register with us with a unique email address. If you have youth volunteers that you’d like to bring or have questions, please contact us at: Volunteer Office
Do all youth volunteers need a permission slip?
Yes, all volunteers under 18 need to turn in a one time parent/guardian permission slip.
Do I need to commit to a specific schedule?
In our Warehouse (Food Pantry and Clothes Closet) we do not ask for a specific schedule or commitment. We do ask that you start and complete your scheduled shift. Other programs ask for a time commitment and set schedule.
If you are volunteering in a program other than the Warehouse, we ask that you commit to a schedule set by you and SHCS staff.
Can I bring a friend to volunteer?
Yes, as long as they are a registered Sacred Heart volunteer. We require all volunteers to be registered individually as a Sacred Heart volunteer. If a volunteer is already registered with us, please have them schedule individually.
Can kids volunteer at Sacred Heart?
On Saturdays only, volunteers 10 years old and over can volunteer with an adult chaperone 18 yrs or older. Monday-Friday, volunteers 7th and 8th grade can volunteer with an adult chaperone 18yrs or older. High School age volunteers can volunteer on their own. All minors (10-17yrs) must submit a signed Parental Permission Form before volunteering.
Can I complete my court-ordered hours at Sacred Heart?
We are able to accept the following offenses: Traffic offenses, DUI, possession of marijuana and smoking in public. We require court-ordered paperwork before you begin your hours. We are not able to accept any violent offenses. You will receive signed proof of your community service upon completion of your hours.
I have forgotten my username/password. Can I reset them?
Yes, use the forgot my password link at our portal sign in, and instructions on how to change your password.

I can’t see any volunteer events on the calendar, where are they?
Only available Food Pantry/Clothes Closet shifts are posted on the calendar. In addition, we have just posted our December holiday shifts.
When do you post Special Events on your calendar?
